The cannabis possession laws for recreational cannabis across Canada vary from province to province. But, the legal amounts of dried cannabis that you can have on you in public are the same Canada wide, at any given time you are legally allowed to have up to 30 grams of dried cannabis (just 2 grams over an ounce).
The amounts of cannabis that you can legally possess at home are different from province to province. For example in BC, you can have up to 1000 grams at home, that’s almost 36 ounces or just about 2.25 pounds. In Ontario, there is no limit of recreational weed that you can legally have at home.

Possession limits for medical marijuana in Canada.
The new ACMPR regulations removed the personal possession limits for patients, they can store as much cannabis as they want at home.
Public possession limits remain the same for authorized patients who are registered with a federally licensed seller or with Health Canada:
- The lesser of 150 grams or a 30-day supply of dried cannabis (or the equivalent in cannabis product) in addition to the 30 grams allowed for non-medical purposes.
